The role of Senior Management |
| |
| |
Any
such exercise which impacts the traditional
operations model of a company needs
to be viewed at a strategic level first.
The impact of the technology needs to
be streamlined with the vision of the
company. If the vision of the company
is that of an efficient, integrated
enterprise responding in real-time to
the customer needs then needs to be
facilitated through the appropriate
use of technology. The achievement of
strategic goals, such as, increased
revenues or increased market share or
more balanced sales of the product portfolio
can be accelerated using technology.
However, whenever technology is used,
the understanding of the fit between
the strategic goals, the company's business
processes and the company culture needs
to be investigated. This can only be
followed at the top executive level.
A top executive (for example, the CEO,
CMO or CTO) with clout in the Management
Council and the Board of Directors of
the organization needs to see the vision
and take it up as a project to enable
the strategic goals. This executive
lets term him, "The Champion", will
work through someone from the middle
management with enough clout at the
operational level that has been assigned
this project of Business Process Automation.
This person with full-time responsibility
for BPA will be termed the Project Director.
